• Note: From the will of his uncle, Francis Fitzhugh. He leaves his whole estate to his wife, Lucy W. Fitzhugh, with reversion of most of it at her death to his nephew, Edwin, son of Francis Conway, of Caroline county; and if he dies, then to his [Edwin's] brother, John Conway; legacy to his niece, Lucy, daughter of his brother, Thomas Fitzhugh. Wife and nephew, Francis Fitzhugh Conway, executrix and executor.

• Death Note. ⁷⁰ Killed in a duel with cousin, William Thornton, who also fell mortally wounded and died, both being in love with the innocent cause of the duel, Lucie H. Macon, niece of President Madison.
