• Note. The story has been handed down that Elizabeth Toney Bush had quite an
independent spirit, showing her daring by getting on her horse and riding
into Tennessee, where some of her children had moved, whenever she chose
to do so.

Articles of Agreement, ELIZABETH BUSH of Franklin County to the heirs of DANIEL BUSH, late of said county, as Executrix, the division of 18 Negroes of said estate left her during her life, to legatees to-wit: Sally Easley, Judah Holland and Susan Norris of Tennessee, and Lydia Harden, JOHN BUSH, WILLIAM BUSH and THOMAS BUSH of Georgia; Jointly bound for $5000 to be paid to ELIZABETH BUSH by legates or legatees. This agreement is signed by John Easley, John Holland, William Bush, Robert Norris, Samuel Harden, John Bush, and John Bush as guardian for Thomas Bush. Witnesses: Darby Henly, Edmd. King, J.P."

• Note. Much documentation has the mother of John and William Bush as Elizabeth Freeman. However, my research tends to point to Elizabeth Freeman being the grandmother, wife of Tomothy Toney and mother of Elizabeth Toney, who I believe is the actual wife of Daniel and mother of John and William.
Elizabeth married Daniel Bush, son of Daniel Bush and Unknown, in 1772 in Georgia. (Daniel Bush was born in 1735-1740 in South Carolina and died on 26 Feb 1801 in Franklin Co., GA.)
