Former Chattanoogan, 55, Was Son of Founder of Brainerd Baptist
Claude E. Sprague, 55, of Atlanta, formerly of Chattanooga, died of a heart attack Tuesday in Miami while on a business trip.
Mr. Sprague was the son of the late Rev. Claude E. Sprague, who organized Brainerd Baptist Church in 1928 and served as its first pastor until his death in 1930.
Mr. Sprague was born and reared in Chattanooga and live here until 30 years ago when he joined Miles Laboratories in their Atlanta office. He was serving the Southeastern division manager for the firm at the time of his death.
He attended McCallie School and Carson-Newman College.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Francis Sprague of Atlanta; his mother, Mrs. Claude E. Sprague of Chattanooga; one daughter, Carolyn Sprague, Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, John K. Sprague, Chattanooga; five sisters, Mrs. T. L. Roberts, Mrs. E. M. Moore and Mrs. B. L. Adler of Chattanooga; Mrs. Bentley Wallace, Cullman, Ala., and Mrs. Clement Edmunds, Philadelphia.
Funeral services and burial will be held in Atlanta. Arrangements will be announced by Patterson Funeral Home there.
