NOTE: Gilbert & Barker Mfg supplied much of the equipment (tanks and old fashioned fuel pumps) for the first gas stations across america.

• Obituary: Mobile Register, Jan 1941. W.E. Gordon, a lifelong resident of Mobile, died at the family home, 251 Michigan Avenue, at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon, January 4, 1941. He was a member of a family that has occupied a prominent place in the affairs of Mobile for a long time past, and was himself widely known in this community. His survivors are: His wife, Mrs. Mary Hensley Gordon; four sons, Wm E. Gordon, Jr., Jas. Peterson Gordon, Thomas McMillan Gordon, Chester Sage Gordon; a daughter, Nellie Ray Gordon, all of Mobile; two brothers, Thos. M. Gordon, of Mobile and Leon (Lee Owen) Gordon of Union City, PA; a sister, Mrs. Jas. J. Peterson of Mobile, and other relatives. Funeral Services will be held at the Roche Funeral Home at an hour to be announced later. Interment will be at Magnolia Cemetery.

• Funeral Notice: Mobile Register, Jan 1941. Funeral services for WILLIAM ELLIOTT GORDON, who died Saturday, were held at the family home, 251 Michigan Avenue, Monday morning at 10 o'clock with Dr. Warner DuBose of the Government Street Presbyterian Church officiating. The pallbearers were: Matt Mahorner, Judge J. B. Thornton, Fred T. Stimpson, Mark Lyons, Jr., J. Curtis Bush, A. S. Goodbread, W. M. Hallett and D. S. M. Unger. Interment was in Springhill Cemetery. Roche Funeral Home directed.
