• Inheritance: from her father, Robert Rives, the Belmont Plantation. "He gives land and 16 slaves for love and affection to his daughter Lucy Rives Brown." The Belmont Plantation was founded by the Cabells. Gen Alexander Brown was in charge of the plantation/hospital during the War. The land was first given to William Cabell by the British King. Robert Rives purchased the land in 1797, 1797 acres for $13,000.
Lucy married Gen. Alexander Brown, son of Laurence Brown and Sarah Cabell Calloway. (Gen. Alexander Brown was born about 1796 in Scotland and died on 27 Mar 1896.)
